Wyoming Jade Spheres
These small, Wyoming Nephrite Jade specimens were cut, hand-ground, and polished into spheres. This is a natural stone, with no enhancements. Our spheres come from stones that have been formed over millions of years. Polishing enhances the natural occurring colors. Please note that the cut and polish may not remove all inclusions, natural lines or indentations. This is normal and part of the natural material.
Wyoming Jade is a gemstone that comes from glacial mountain sediments and riverbed boulder deposits. Although a person might think that the mineral, nephrite, is completely dissimilar from jade, it is important to understand that nephrite is a type of jade. In fact, the term "jade" is an umbrella term that covers two different types of jade: nephrite and jadeite. All jade from Wyoming is nephrite jade. Nephrite is composed mainly of silica and magnesia, it is also dependent on its color by the amount of iron present. Nephrite is usually some shade of green: it may range from sea green, gray green, celadon, lettuce green, grassy green, and spinach green.
